Maths
Aims of the Maths curriculum at St Laurence’s:
At St Laurence’s, we aim for children to:
- become fluent in the fundamentals of Maths – through varied and frequent practice children develop conceptual understanding and the ability to recall and apply their knowledge rapidly and accurately.
- develop their understanding following a concrete-pictorial-abstract approach.
- reason mathematically - following lines of enquiry, making links with relationships and generalisation and developing justification to prove their ideas using appropriate Maths vocabulary.
- solve problems by applying their Maths to a variety of problems.
