Our Overall Aim For Design and Technology at St Laurence’s: 

“Enabling the learners to grow in skills, live in an ever-changing world and learn in a different way.”  

Aims of Design and Technology at St Laurence’s 

We aim to encourage our children to become: 

  •  active learners, problem solvers,  

  • critical thinkers,  

  • creative,  

  • resilient  

  • leaders in a future we cannot envisage. 

 Design and Technology is a subject which aims to: 

  •  teach children about the design of a range of things,  

  • allows them to think and understand how things work,  

  • Understand how things are joined and made.  

D&T gives children the chance to: 

  • assemble,  

  • disassemble,  

  • plan,  

  • construct  

  • Evaluate. 

Delivery of Design and Technology at St Laurence’s 

Design and Technology is taught through a variety of exciting and challenging lessons which are linked with the termly theme. Each unit follows the pattern of research, plan, design and evaluate. The projects will cover the overall Design and Technology core principles:
