ICONs Team

Who are we?

As an International Cross of Nails School (ICONS) we have recognised the opportunity of commencing principles of peace, forgiveness + transformation. As an ICONs school, we embrace three themes of the community around us: healing the wounds of history; living with difference and celebrating diversity; and building a culture of peace. These are essential because they each spread symbols of peace and courage throughout our curriculum.

We encourage people to reconcile and give a hand to the future generation, by doing this we are setting our generation to learn from past mistakes, learn to forgive and treat people like how they want to be treated.

Recent Headlines

This month, the ICONs team have been attending training on how to be an effective ICONs ambassador. Accompanied by Mrs Verdon, the children spent a whole day taking part in activities and building stronger connections with each other and with ambassadors from other local schools.

In December, the ICONs team visited Coventry Cathedral for a Christingle Service. All of the children took part on the service, reading passages from the Bible and singing songs. A large congregation came together for the event and the children showed courage and acted as wonderful ambassadors for our school.

At the end of November, three of the ICONs team attended a conference on 'How to be a Peaceful School' hosted by Coventry Cathedral. The event was led by Coventry's Peace Committee and the children had the opportunity to network with local schools who had been awarded the Peace Award.

St Laurence's are committed to becoming a Peace School ourselves and the ICONs team are busy gathering evidence to demonstrate how we already meet the criteria. Exciting times ahead....
