At St Laurence's, we begin teaching Phonics in the first few weeks of starting school. Phonics enables the children to begin reading, through segmenting and blending words. Please find some videos below , to support home reading. 

 

We begin teaching phase 2 Phonics, after Christmas we then begin teaching phase 3.

  • Phonics games - PhonicsPlay This website is used in school with the children. There are lots of enjoyable games for the children to play.
  • Jolly Phonics songs - for children These are the songs that support teaching in school. Watching and joining in with these songs regularly, will support retention of the sounds learnt.
