Music at St Laurence's
At St Laurence’s we deliver a range of high quality, rich and diverse music tuition, which is strongly embedded in our curriculum and extra-curricular activities. As a reflection of our commitment to music, we have been named “Music School of the Month” by Coventry Music.
Working in partnership with Coventry Music, experienced peripatetic teachers provide whole class and small group instrument tuition. Currently, Year 1 are taught Percussion, Year 3 Ukulele and Year 5 Djembes As pupils move up the school, they will have had experience of learning a range of instruments from strings, to percussion and woodwind.
Pupils can also learn a musical instrument in small groups of 4 or 5, such as guitar and violin, with a small parental contribution towards the costs.
“Mornings of Music” is one of the occasions we use to celebrate musically in partnership with other local schools, providing Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 with the opportunity to learn and perform songs here at St Laurence’s as well as at other local schools.
We are proud to be a “Young Voices” school and have performed in concerts at Resorts World Arena, Birmingham. Each year it is an amazing experience for our children. We will once again take part for the 2022 event and the school will be paying the cost for this.
