Sports Ambassadors
St. Laurence's had a group of children take part in the Coventry Young Ambassadors programme who supported local sporting and cultural events in the run up the Tokyo Olympic Games and Coventry City of Culture. We thought this was a great programme and decided to continue with a new group of Sports Ambassadors at St. Laurence's after the initial programme had ended.
Our Sports Ambassadors act as role models by showing a passion and commitment to sport and Physical Education. Some of the duties they do include being the pupil voice on the schools PE and sports provision, encouraging their class to wear the correct PE kits, lead, support, score virtual sporting competitions that take place in school, support the delivery of intra school sports competitions and promote PESSPA (PE, School Sport and Physical Activity) to the school as a whole.
In our role as 'Sports Ambassadors' we support sporting events in school. We enjoy learning, trying to master new skills and supporting others doing the same. We offer help to other children when they are being active. We support lunchtime activities, giving children encouragement and technical support. We think of new games and activities that children can take part in both with PE, lunchtimes and after-school.
This year's Sports Ambassadors are:
Year 3: Dennis and Kian-Jayceon
Year 4: Jothica and Lucy
Year 5: Noel and Scarlett
