Long Term Plan
Intent
The intent of our text-based writing curriculum in a primary school is to develop confident, competent, and engaged writers who have a deep understanding of writing conventions, are equipped with a rich vocabulary, and can effectively express their thoughts and ideas. The curriculum aims to foster a love for writing, promote creativity, and develop critical thinking skills. Students will be encouraged to write across a range of genres, for various purposes, and in different contexts. Take a look at our long term plan to see the range of texts children will read to inspire their writing outcomes.

Writing curriculum impact
At St. Laurence's, our writing curriculum has a significant impact on students' progress, engagement, transferable skills, and well-being, ensuring that they become proficient writers who can effectively communicate and express their ideas in writing. By ensuring an inclusive writing curriculum, the impact will be seen in the progress and well-being of all learners, including those with special educational needs and disabilities. Students will feel valued and supported, experiencing success in their writing and having their individual needs met. The curriculum will foster a positive learning environment, promoting students' confidence, resilience, and emotional well-being.
