Summer Term
English
In English this term we have focused on a book called ‘Oliver and the Seawigs’ by Phillip Reeve and Sally McIntyre which sees Oliver along with his new friends, a grumpy old albatross, a short-sighted mermaid, and a friendly island called Cliff, go off in search of his missing parents. But before he can put his rescue plan into action there's the evil Stacey de Lacey and an army of greasy, green sea monkeys to contend with . . .
The children enjoyed designing their own sea-wigs and then writing a letter from Oliver to his missing parents. The children are just about to create a leaflet encouraging tourism to the roaming isles in the book – I wonder if you’d like to book a summer holiday there?
After half term we will be focusing on ‘Fair’s Fair’ by Leon Garfield.

Maths
This term we will be focusing on fractions, time and shape.
In Year 3 we particularly focus on the 3, 4 and 8 times tables. The children are enjoying to try and tell the time daily. This regular practice is important as we try to try and embed this skill. Their progress in recognising the time has been fantastic. We have seen some really impressive initial learnings by all children with this important life skill. Please continue to take any opportunity you get to discuss the time – in both analogue and digital forms.
Please encourage your child to keep practicing the below multiplication facts.
Year 3 multiplication methods –
Multiplication (with 3,4 and 8x tables) and Division (with 3,4 and 8x tables)
